Staff Team
We currently have funding from Rochdale MBC to employ the equivalent of five full-time members of staff and the Legal Services Commission to employ three members of staff, who work as a collective and are responsible for the day-to-day work and running of the Law Centre.
The staff take referrals from local agencies, and hold advice sessions at different locations. They are able to provide detailed advice and assistance within their specialist areas of law, and to make appropriate referrals to other advice agencies or solicitors as necessary. They are able to provide free legal representation in Tribunals and other Courts in cases which fall within the Law Centre’s priorities. All staff are also responsible for carrying out education, training, campaign work, work with groups etc.
The staff at the Law Centre work collectively, and have equal responsibility for ensuring that the work of the Law Centre is carried out effectively. All staff members are accountable to the staff collective and subsequently, to the Management Committee. With regard to individual casework, all staff work in line with the Solicitors’ Practice Rules and LSC contract requirements. The Senior Solicitor is responsible for ensuring that the Rules are maintained and that supervision is provided. The staff as a team ensure that all Practice Rules and guidelines are kept to. Staff also work in line with the Law Centre’s policies and procedures and contribute to the development of Law Centre policy.
